Botanic Garden

The Singapore Botanic Garden was founded in 1859. Inside this beautiful garden lay trees as old as the garden and as high as 50 meters, with circumference measuring 7.8 meters. It was also here in 1877, that the first rubber tree was first introduced to South East East from South America, eventually making Malaya the largest rubber producing country. Orchard Road, as the name suggested was an area covered with nutmeg and pepper plantations in the 19 century, it is the now the most popular shopping district in Singapore as the Fifth Avenue is to New York. National Museum
